Details: Up for sale is a 2003 Mazda Protege, MAZDASPEED Edition.This car is very clean and well maintained. Fast and very quick. Zoom Zoom. Th 2.0L engine still gets 27/30 mpg with the help of the turbo. This is one of Mazda´s rarest car they made and this was the last and only year they made the MAZDASPEED edition. Starting with the outside, there is no rust anywhere on the car. The paint is in great shape, and is a black flake which shines well and is original. The back window and rear passenger windows are 5% tint and the front 2 are 35%tint. The Racingheart rims are also original only made for this edition and they are still in great shape with three of them sporting new Mazda center caps. Tires are all good with about 80% tread. The interior is in great condition as well. Driver seat aside the interior looks brand new. The bottom of the driver seat has small wear on it but there is no foam showing or anything. Brand new MAZDASPEED carpets. The seats are suede all around besides for the center of them which is made of a silver breathable material which stays cool in summer. Suede inserts in the doors too. a Sparco shift knob and Sparco pedals. Alpine cd player running to an amp with 6 component speakers. No sub, but there are wires already ran for a second amp and a subwoofer. The boost gauge is a carbon light gauge that sits right behind the center of the steering wheel. I also just bought a double gauge side pillar with another boost gauge and a volts gauge. They are installed but I havn´t got around to hooking the two side guages up yet. The engine and clutch were each swapped for new ones. now the engine and clutch have 38000 miles on them.Very smooth running and shifting. The clutch was upgraded to a stage 2 short shifter while the enginge was swapped for same one by Mazda under warranty. An external turbo wastegate is istalled to replace the faulty internal wastegate. Also upgraded to a bottom mount intercooler, which is a lot better than the small stock side mount intercooler. Also an AEM cold air intake, and an aftermarket blow off valve. Power windows, mirrors, locks and remote control cd player. These cars were already fully loaded with many aftermarket but still oem parts like the front and rear sway bar made by streetbeat, Tokico gas shocks and struts. front and rear stablizer, beefy front and rear disc breaks. I added a clunk fix to the rear swaybar, a bug that should have been fixed under warranty by faulty design but i havn´t had a problem since. in the last 6000 miles and 6 months of this car i started to go a little spending crazy and replaced and upgraded many things. here are a few. All new break pads, 3 new center caps, 4 new continental street low profiles 80% left. All 4 new swaybar endlinks, front and back swaybar bushing, new alternator,new solid motor mounts(pretty pricy but very useful) new battery,new carpets, new waterpump, 2 new cam seals, new crank seal, new timing belt, all belts replaced and all new rear emblems because they were stolen at one time at work,new PIIA ionized lense fog lights, and new rear carbon fiber tail lights. Probably missing some upgrades but you get the point. this car has had everything that did or might have needed replacing done. The chasis has about 138xxx on it but as you can tell thats about the only thing that has that many miles . Be assured there is absolutley no known problems. I love this car and would not be getting rid of it if i didnt have to. I was planning on keeping this car until it died on me, but my fiance has insisted that I don´´t drive my daughter around in it, and wants me to get something new and not as fast. No low ballers, . As a reminder, stock rx7´s in this condition go 4,000 all day long, turbos 5-6k. I am flexible on trading up or down with cash on either end worst I can do is say no, but don´t insult me either, I´m not interested in flat screen TV´s and nintendo Wiis. This car will smoke a stock turbo II rx7, get about the same MPG if not more, and will be cheaper and easier to maintain. I get compliments everywhere I go, someone left a note on my car the other day with praise on how clean it is. 22mpg highway with the automatic 700r4 with overdrive on with 3.90 mazda rear gears going 65~70mph on the highway at 2350rpms 2400 stall 2500 miles on the rebuilt engine and trans, pretty much just broken in. Year old old paint job still shiny but some imperfections, will last on the road for quite a while, not show quality, its a driver paint job.Engine was donated from a C4 Corvette L98 block, rebuilt using GM performance master rebuilt kit, using parts from the GM crate engine 350/290hp, used the kits stock rods but used custom forged pistons, 9.3 compression overall so it runs great on 87 octane. Fuel injection ditched for Carbed setup with a eldebrock performer intake and 650 carb, Everything in the engine was gone over, nothing skipped like the oil pump, oil pan, freeze plugs, everything was sonic checked and found to be great. Full msd ignition and push button start with a heavy duty starter City is around 18mpg, just don´t have a lead foot which is hard with a fun car like this! Heads were also from an early L98 vette rebuilt with a mild valve job, and mild cam. Car retains factory independent rear suspension and factory rear end that includes a LSD posi track, it´s the GXL highest end model in 1986 for RX7´s.For everyone asking me how fast it is, I say it would do a mid to low 13 in the 1/4 as she sits right now. Swap out the rear gears for mazda 4.60´s and a 3200~3400 stall or get a t5 or t56 manual trans to hit 12´s. Toss a blower on it, 93+ octane and a good blow-through setup and 11´s would be easy even with the auto trans. For maximum effect gut the interior, lexan glass, slicks n skinnys, roll cage, harness, ford 9 inch rear with wicked gears and use a 383 stroker with a blower or turbo and hit 9´s and beyond.Very easy to drive on the street and is reliable enough to be a daily driver, because I daily drive it right now! Mileage will go up. I´m no stranger to cars, had a eagle talon do high 10´s in the 1/4, and that was with a stock head except for cams, full interior/factory looking car, stock gas tank, and a 50lbs overweight driver! I´m getting older and want to go slower and more stretched out. I need more headroom, maybe backseats, or the bed of a truck, possibly a FAST sedan?! More headroom for sure, but I have a thing for two seater coupes, convertibles and roadster with hardtops. Cons:No a/c, no heat there are kits from grannys speed shop to convert both. A heater would be relatively inexpensive but I´ve found the large v8 heats up the car nicely, and if its THAT cold I don´t drive it.Electric rear view mirrors don´t work, adjust them manually once and there ya go, was planning on manual mirror swap along with roll up windows (electric windows and sunroof works fine)Passenger door doesn´t open from outside, needs the cable re attached. one or two interior bits missing, go junkyard crawlingGas gauge works when it wants toExhaust leak at collectors, brand new exhaust just need a 50 cent bolt from home depot and tighten it up where it meets the headers. Cheap fix, I can´t get at it to fix it, no jack or stands, my dad stole them and sold them, then fled to the phillipines! (thats for another venting craigslist section, sorry)The exhaust leak sounds way worse then it really is. I just can´t see myself paying a shop $35 bucks to do a 5 min job. The high end RPM´s make this car scream. The 1-2 shift is crisp and instant, will really but you in the back of the seat. Rear hooks up great due to the suspension and posi track rear end. Car is super tame to drive around town and turns heads wherever it goes. I would trade for:I like Targa tops, T tops, convertibles. I do not like moon/sunroof even if they are removable. I want the ENTIRE roof gone, or at least T tops.Rear/mid engined old VW, porsche, Karmann Ghia, any porsche in awesome condition really, old rear engine Beatles . old mopar, Really interested in a slant 6 cars must be two door, like B and E bodysFAST trucks like v8 swapped s10´s, lightning, the smaller/newer the truck the betterI´d trade for roadsters, two seaters. I like MGB miata, z3 mr2 all datsun number cars 510, 240z, 60z, 80z, 300zx 240sx early 60´s to mid 70´s chevy almost anything 2 door.mid 60 to early 70´s mustangsI MIGHT trade for a stingray or c4 vette but it has to be MANUAL trans. T top, convertible, targa ++++I´d consider FWD like honda, acura but it has to be manual and not sound like pissed off bumble bees or have pink wheels or be more ricey then my mazda , it´s already borderline with the kit. 60% ricer, 40% muscleless diamond plate interior then my mazda is +++++ LOL.I DO NOT want motorcycles, ATV´s, Xboxes, or non-automobile things that I can´t drive on the highway. I like bikes, but they´re just not for me.One last thing, I´m going to quote a buddy of mine from a forum reguarding RX7´s with v8 swaps and how fun they can be, and mine is!´Uh... 13s with really, really mild v8s, MAYBE a 14 flat at worst. 12s with anything on the fast side of a LT1, and from there the sky is the limit.One guy with a TT 351W in a FB was well into the single digits, and the fastest one that I know the specifics of was a FC with a 383 cid v8 on the stock rear with slicks that ran a 9.42 with a 1.3 60´ time. Dragtimes are only half of the appeal, however - a FC with coilovers, DTSS bushings, good tires and a v8 is like a gokart on steroids, even if its an iron block.
